My skills

My name is Julia Olley and I am a South African citizen. I graduated Cum Laude with my BCom Law at the end of 2014, and I graduated Cum Laude with my LLB at the end of 2016 from Slenbosch University. I have recently completed the TEFL Course through Global TEFL and passed with an “A”.Ever since I was a little girl I have wanted to be a teacher, and would spend hours playing an imaginary game of ‘teacher’. I also tutored ing for three years whilst I was at university, and I absoluy loved it! I tutored groups of about ten students at a time, as well as one on one lessons. I know that being a teacher requires a lot of energy and patience, but I am an extremely energetic person and I know that I will do my best to help the students I teach.  I love music and studied it at school, and I am a quick learner.

Personal Summary

My name is Julia Olley and I am a South African citizen. I graduated Cum Laude with my BCom Law at the end of 2014, and I graduated Cum Laude with my LLB at the end of 2016 from Slenbosch University. I loved my studies at Slenbosch University and feel very privileged to have been able to attend this university.

I have recently completed the TEFL Course through Global TEFL and passed with an “A”.

I am also more than competent in computer literacy and have had my drivers’ license for five years.

Although I do intend to pursue a career in law one day, ever since I was a little girl I have wanted to be a teacher, and would spend hours playing an imaginary game of ‘teacher’. I also tutored ing for three years whilst I was at university, and I absoluy loved it! I tutored groups of about ten students at a time, as well as one on one lessons. Therefore, I would like to take a few years while I am still young to pursue a career as a teacher before I embark on my career as a lawyer.  I know that being a teacher requires a lot of energy and patience, but I am an extremely energetic person and I know that I will do my best to help the students I teach.

I am an enthusiastic person who puts my heart and soul into everything I do. I am responsible and reliable and love being in leadership positions. I am confident and find it easy to engage with others, and I love working with other people. I am an extremely hard worker but I always make sure that I have time for my friends and family.

My hobbies are reading, playing the saxo and piano, running, and being with my friends and family.

I have also travelled to Asia twice, once with my family (January 2016), and once by myself (June 2016). During June I backpacked around Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, and doing this trip really made me realise what I am capable of. It is difficult travelling alone, but I faced up to the challenges and made many friends along the way.

I really hope that you will consider me for a teaching position, as I know that I will give my all to the position and will not disappoint!

Volunteer work and community service:

I spent five days doing residential community service at Phedisang in the Limpopo, which gave me a lot of insight into different cultures and how incredibly lucky I am to have as much as I do. I will always remember this experience and how much the children inspired me to always be positive no matter how hard life seems. I will cherish what those five days taught me for the rest of my life.

I was president of my school’s interact club, a club which interacted with the community and those less fortunate than ourselves to try and improve their lives by raising money to donate to certain community centres and knitting blankets to help them in the winter.

Leadership roles:

During high school I fulfilled the roles of many leadership positions, namely, I was president of the interact club at Roedean, I was head of catering for the matric dance committee, I was a silver prefect and head of house. At University I was the squash representative for my residence for two years, the block representative for my residence for a year, I was on the disciplinary committee for my residence, I was on the House Committee for my residence for a year and I was an ing tutor for the University of Slenbosch for two years.

Secondary Education at Roedean School

I fulfilled many leadership roles during my time at Roedean School, as I have mentioned above. I was in the jazz band and choir for the whole of high school, and played hockey and squash throughout high school as well. I was involved in inter-house plays and events every year.  I was involved in most activities during my school career, for further details of which, please see my testimonial which I have attached.
