Not Everyone Speaks English

Broaden your opportunities by letting Hosts know what languages you speak

One of the reasons Hosts use travellers to get things done, rather than locals, is because they want to be able to communicate with you in a language they know.

  • If they are Spanish, they may well require you to be able to speak Spanish – they’ll set this in your Work Posting. If you speak Spanish and don’t list in your language section, you will be missing out on those type of work opportunities when you use the Work Search.
  • Make sure your honest about your level of understanding. If you say you are advanced and you are not, you may get a bad reference, even though you worked really hard – or you may have a less than enjoyable time.
