Interests

-     Research Project

September 2016 I was involved in the planning and data collection of a research project that was approved by Leeds Beckett University. This project concluded of a 3-day residential programme in which year 7 pupils participated in a variety of activities focusing on team work and self-determination. Title: ‘One in a Million Transitions’ Tailoring Outdoor Adventure residential programming for Year 7 students’ educational transitions.

-     Adventure Day

I have lead a variety of Outdoor Adventure Education sessions. These ranged in age group from the age of 7-16. In addition to this I have working with vulnerable children as well as those with challenging behaviour and children with hearing impairments. This included a variety of activities, for example: Rock Climbing, Survival Camp, Team-Building activities, Mountain-biking and a range of Water-sports.

-     Travelling

I enjoy travelling and aim to visit many countries in the future. In 2014, 2015 and 2016 I travelled America, including New York City, Niagara Falls, New Jersey, Washington , Richmond, St. Augustine, Orlando, Miami, Key West, The Everglades, Atlanta, San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia.

-     Volunteering

In order to gain my sports leadership awards I carried out over 200 hours of volunteer work. I mainly did this within schools, running PE classes and teaching after school activities.

In addition to this in the summer of 2014, 2015 and 2016 I have taken part in the Camp Counsellors USA Program. Although you get paid whilst working out in America it does cost a lot to take part and therefore only break even financially. As a counsellor you work 24/7 for 9 weeks with children at camps in the states, this includes living with a group of children and running activities throughout the day.

-Sport

I am a keen sports woman whom has been fortunate to participate in many sports. Currently I play Lacrosse for Leeds Beckett University; however, I have played for local teams or at a high level in the following sports: Football, Diving, Rounder’s, Cross Country, Athletics, Motor-cross, Trampolining and Rock Climbing.
