SKILLS

ABRSM Grade 5 Cello – Pass

I enjoy playing musical instruments, I studied the clarinet and cello taught by private tutors whilst in school.

I achieved Silver Duke of Edinburgh, a fulfilling experience which improved my team work and relied on determination to succeed as well as being well organised and a good leader necessary throughout the expedition.

I have an avid passion for travelling; I went interrailing for 3 weeks in 2017 and have taken a year out from university to travel for 8 months in 2018, my travels began with a month-long tour around Thailand and Indochina in January. In September, I will be attending Kings College, London, to study History and International Relations – for which I have received an unconditional offer.

In July 2016, I participated in an aid project led by Camps International in Borneo, we spent a month in 4 separate camps across Borneo in small communities helping the locals: building kindergartens and facilities, teaching the children English, planting trees for rainforest conservation and cleaning up the beaches. My time in Borneo was unforgettable and the best thing I have ever done, I hope to do more aid work in the future – it helped me to build on my team work, perseverance and communication, as well as enhancing my character and making me more humble and grateful.

                           EXPERIENCE

THE HEARTY GOODFELLOW, SOUTHWELL
September 2015 – January 2018

I was entrusted with a multitude of roles at the pub: I worked in the kitchen both doing prep work and as a chef (having the kitchen to myself with a KP on many occasions), as well as doing front of house shifts on the bar and coordinating the restaurant. Particularly during the busy summer months, I worked well under pressure both in the kitchen and on the front, where I didn’t allow for problems to affect my demeanor. I was also the project manager of liaising with the designers of our new site, so was fully responsible for the launch. I adored my work, was always readily available for any extra/emergency shifts. As I was also undertaking my A Levels whilst working 30 hours, I learned how to effectively manage my time to allow for revision, without it restricting my ability to work. Our workforce got on like a family, which strengthened our communication and ensured cohesion, we also welcomed newcomers. I was often appointed mentor to new staff as I was good at training as was also seen as approachable and comforting.

SOUTHWELL GARDEN CENTRE TEA ROOM
September 2014 – December 2016

I worked a variety of roles in the Tea Room, my major focus being on the till serving customers and waitressing. I was fully competent using the professional coffee machine and received barista training. The customer service gave me good communication skills and I acquired a polite and helpful attitude. Working with others improved my team working, I got on well with my co-workers and I was tasked with mentoring the new employees who came to join us.

ONE STOP CONVENIENCE STORE
September 2014 – January 2016

I delivered papers around my town every morning at 7am, excluding Saturdays. This job gave me regiment and a strong work ethic from a young age, showing me how to manage my time well and be a reliant worker.
