PROFILE

I am a friendly, enthusiastic and hardworking gap year student going to study Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American studies at the University of Leeds in September 2018. I enjoy working and interacting with people. I am accommodating and patient under pressure.  My time management skills enable me to work efficiently and on time. I spent the first half of my life in Canada, have travelled extensively and worked in a of different environments. I am used to change and dealing with challenging circumstances.

WORK EXPERIENCE

2017 Aug - Oct           Front of House (bartender) at The Beech House, Beaconsfield – an Oakman Inns pub/bar/restaurant. Role and responsibilities: Opening and closing the bar, serving both food and drink

2016 - 2017                 Supervisor at Sports Nut – A sports company for kids from ages 6 to 14

Role and responsibilities: looking after the kids before and after their activity, working with the parents and answering any questions/enquiries they have

2016 – 2017           Private Spanish tutor for a girl currently sitting her GCSEs

2016                           Work experience at Wilkin Chapman LP – a law firm based in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire

2016                           Work experience in Segovia, Spain at Casa Vicente – a family run restaurant

2014 – present            Working at ‘Rockin’ Ruins’ local festival:

·       Working behind a bar and selling merchandise

·       Dealing with large sums of money

·       Clearing the site

2014 – 2017          Waiter for the Hearty Table – a local ‘supper club’

Role and responsibilities: welcoming guests, plating up food, serving food, washing up, working behind a bar

2014 – present            Referee for local leagues

·       Working both individually and in teams of 3/4 officials

·       Started with youth football (ages 12 – 16) but now primarily referee adult games (18+)

·       Have been an assistant on several semi-professional games as well as in a Women’s FA Cup game

·       Premier League youth development tournament in 2015

2015                          Completed a language course (in Spanish) at the University of Salamanca in Spain

 

INTERESTS

Travel                          I have travelled independently across Spain (Salamanca, Segovia, Madrid and León), which has greatly enhanced my organisational abilities and my ability to adapt to rapidly changing plans and situations, as well as greatly enhancing my language skills.

Volunteer                    I have volunteered abroad, in a trip to Zambia/Botswana in 2015 where I worked with local farmers for a week

Language                   Since starting my A level in Spanish I have travelled across Spain independently in order to gain a firm grasp of the language. I have completed a language course at the University of Salamanca, helped on a dairy farm in Carrizo de la Rivera (rural León) and worked in a restaurant in Segovia. I have also confirmed my place at the University of Leeds to study Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies (course starting in September 2018)
