I am a 64 yearold teacher of English with 3,000 square meters of agricultural land on 5 terraces opposite my 3 bedroom house with a small back garden. This is my third year living here in the Algarve using permaculture and organic practices to grow a wide variety of fruit and vegetables. I also have friends and guests to come and stay sometimes. I came to Portugal to recover from very serious and life threatening illnesses and have had a miraculous improvement since living here. Because of my health and my teaching I am not able to devote all my time to the land to restore it as quickly as I want. The previous owner left the land untended and looked after for many years and it is my project with help to restore the land and out buildings over the coming years with skilled help from workers/volunteers. The house in in the Monchique mountains at 450 metres some 7 kilometres from Monchique

How we work
I have a large sunny room upstairs in the house with a futon single bed, a double bed and wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. There is a bathroom with a shower next to the room. Meals will be provided but workers are welcome to cook their own meals if they want. I have a largely vegetarian diet, I am a keen cook and we eat well here. There is a , internet access and is a bus service from Alferce to Monchique 3 times a day and from Monchique to Portimao (the nearest big town is 25 minutes away).
THis is a NO-smoking house and I have a 12 year-old collie dog.
