Adam Koan

Adam Koan is a half Colombian half Venezuelan-American, raised in the small town of Belleview, Florida who has toured the world performing, teaching, and writing about butoh. He has been involved with butoh since 2013. He is a former facilitator at Himalaya Subbody Butoh ('17, '18, '19) and was curator for the 2- week Serbia Butoh Retreat 2019.

2 1⁄2 years prior to his butoh journey, he was in full-time classical dance training composed of Ballet and Modern Dance. Since Jan '20,

he guided six 1-month butoh intensive residencies at STOA theatre center in Sirince, Turkey.

WORLD | Adam has guided approximay 940 hours of butoh workshops in USA, Mexico, Georgia, Turkey, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Germany, Serbia, Hungary, Spain, Finland, Italy, UK, India, and Israel.

INDIA | Began butoh training at this facility full time (25 hours per week) for 3 months of Fall semester (’13), Spring semester (’14), and returned to both take class and help facilitate for the following semesters: Summer & Fall (’17), Summer & Fall (’18), Spring (’19).
