My skills

Hi! I have been traveling and working all my life which is how I came across this site. My work is mainly in the creative field working as a freelance illustrator, cartoonist, caricaturist and author of a book called 'Matamundos' ( Akal). This work has lead me to work with some great people, especially working at many events around the globe. I also work from time to time as a copywriter and voice-over artist. Traveling, meeting new people, different challenges is for me the spice of life!

Born in 1968 in Hereford, England and lives in Barcelona.


He studied Graphic Design at Berkshire College of Art and Design (1986-87), in Reading. Educated at Reading Blue Coat School, in Sonning, Berkshire and later at King James’ Sixth Form College of Henley.


In 1988 he began his career as a copywriter at advertising agency Young & Rubicam, London, creating advertising campaigns for clients such as Adidas, Colgate, Smirnoff, KFC, The Royal Navy and Heinz (TV, exterior, print and radio), during five years. To this day he still collaborates with advertising agencies (such as JWT, *, Delvico Bates, Accenture etc) as a freelance Creative Director involved in the initial creative concept, copy and scripts, story boards, presentations, digital content, post production, etc.


In 1993, he traveled to USA, assisting an event organizer in California with design and decoration and also visiting many states while documenting his travels in sketchbooks.


Later in October, 1993 he moved to Barcelona, where he began his career as an illustrator and political cartoonist, with commissions from publishers such as Planeta, Ariel, Icaria, Reino de Cordelia, Martínez Roca, Edebé, Ediciones B, Quaderns Crema, Proa, Parramón etc, and has since illustrated over 20 books, including an illustrated version of Voltaire’s ‘Candide or optimism’ (Ediciones Akal, 2021).


He is also the author/illustrator of a book called ‘Matamundos’ (Ediciones Akal, 2020), an illustrated satirical vision of the climate change and man’s abuse of the natural world.


Simultaneously, he has consistently illustrated for international newspapers and magazines, many on a daily basis, specializing in cartoons and editorial illustration for opinion articles. He publishes daily cartoons for the newspapers El Periódico and Ara, for the weekly satirical magazine El Jueves and for other publications including Private Eye and The New Statesman . He also regularly participates drawing cartoons on live TV for the programme ‘Els Matins’, TV3 and TV France 24. Other clients:  Punch, ECO, El País, El Punt Avui, El Economista, El Mundo Deportivo, La Vanguardia Magazine, Revista Industrias Pesqueras, The New York Observer, Clamor, Z Magazine, The Progressive (USA), El Triangle, El Temps etc


His work has been selected for numerous international illustration festivals such as the World Press Cartoon in Lisbon (with two honorable mentions awarded in 2008 and 2019), Chisolme Gallery in New York, Propaganda in San Francisco, National Museum of Syria in Damascus along with the cartoon festivals of St. Estève and  St. Just Le Mar in France plus many exhibitions in Spain.


Aside from editorial work, he has been been hired on numerous occasions to draw at events around the globe for clients such as SEAT, Volkswagen, La Fura dels Baus, Audi, Samsung, Huawei, Olympus, Elsinor Producciones, El Turismo de Andalucía and Expo 2020 Dubai. The creative activities he offers for such events are caricatures drawn live, demonstrations of new technology designed for digital artists and also graphic visualization/scribing, among others.


He has taught classes of various artistic disciplines and styles to children of all ages ranging from Primary education (The British School of Barcelona) to Secondary education (Escola Joso Centre de Còmic i Arts Visuals and El Institut Escola Sant Adrià de Besòs, Barcelona) to university students (Barcelona and Vic).  He has also participated in many conferences held at venues of cultural importance such as La CaixaForum, Barcelona (conference about William Hogarth) and the museum Caen Memorial, France (conference about the limits of graphic humour) and various conferences online. On three occasions he has participated in workshops organized for the inmates at the Quatre Camins prison.


On numerous occasions he has been hired as a translator from Spanish or Catalan to English and vice versa. He specializes in translations in the world of culture particularly in fields of advertising, marketing and publishing. More recently he has translated complex texts for Accenture (advertising agency), la Fundació Antoni Tàpies and Akal publishers.


In recent years he has collaborated with various sound recording studios in Spain and UK as a voice-over artist , recordings for advertising, corporate videos, museum guides etc with an agile voice capable of imitating regional accents from a of countries.


From 1998 to 2004 he was a member of El Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc, Barcelona.


He is currently a member of Cartooning For Peace, Cartoon Movement, Frente Viñetista and United Sketches for Freedom (British representative).


Software: Proficient in Photoshop, Procreate, InDesign, Video Editor etc


Languages: English (native). Spanish and Catalan (fluent, written and spoken). French (basic level).


Other: He lives in the area of Sant Gervasi, in Barcelona. He is a culinary enthusiast. He enjoys cooking, listening to music of all genres especially jazz, reading, traveling, sports (tennis and bicycle). He is greatly inspired by the natural world and fascinated by archeology and anthropology.
