Managing the family home with boy 16, girl 11.  Daily care of girl 11 and occasional care of boy 16 (boarding school). I ensure that the girl completes her morning routine and is at school on time. Assist with homework, dinner, activities etc. Light house keeping and children’s laundry. Care for family pets. Coordinate with trades people when needed. Family food shopping. Child Welfare House Manager

Managing a family home involved with Métis child welfare. Helping the parents to work with their children to develop their parenting skills to maintain a cohesive family unit within the community. Also supervise a team of Intensive Family Support Workers, while providing guidance, training and support to staff. Overseeing of documentation for the families including appointment updates, daily notes, critical incident reports and month end reports. Attend ICM meetings and communicating with involved professionals on the family’s multi-disciplinary team. I also work with youth on independent living skills. This was a contract, fixed term position.

As a Service Coordinator I had an assigned caseload for whom I ensured that all Individual Service Plans and files are updated, families were ed and kept informed of progress, appointments booked and attended. In addition, I dealt with social services, the PDD department of Alberta Government and external companies and agencies who worked with the clients in our service. I also conducted Program Orientations, Intake Assessments, and Risk Assessments for my department as well as Intake for the Employment Resource Centre.

In my position as Behavioural Assistant I was responsible for ensuring students' safety when the teacher must leave the classroom, assisting with any child who was in crisis or needing extra attention, as well as reinforcing instruction and preparation for the class and materials. Third Academy is an inclusive and behavioral school; I therefore spend all day with the children through class times and break times. I would also create and write Individual Support Plans for each student in the classroom.

Supervise Campers and staff to ensure their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.  Assist staff to plan Camp games. Educating Campers through games and explorations. Create and maintain weekly or daily schedules considering children’s age groups and interests.   I was on call to take the lead on behavioural and emotional support, and when needed assist with medical needs at night and day. Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed. Reliability and the ability to build good relationships with children are two essential traits I deployed daily. Lead recreational and educational activities such as swimming, crafting, wildlife safety, and Camp trips. Deployed both patients and empathy allowing me to be strict when needed, but also a friendly face for games and emotional needs. Supervise and support counsellors. Provide direction to the counselor team through a positive leadership style. Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for Campers and counsellors. Act as a resource for counsellors in areas including, but not limited to, personal care, behaviors, and general problems. Create and deliver sessions for staff training. Create Camper cabins/groups based on personality and common interests. Create events and encouragements to boost and maintain staff and Camper morale. Take part in Camp programs and activities. Do regular individual check-ins with counselors. Deliver formal, written performance evaluations to counselors in an unbiased, professional manner.  Keep accurate incident logs. Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the Camp. Assist the kitchen staff to record and track Camper’s dietary restrictions/allergies and ensure that the meals/snacks are distributed to them. Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the Camp program, including knowing the whereabouts of Campers and staff at all times.

Responsible for making sure all programming and staff members were client focused. As a Team Leader, I was responsible for a team of campers and staff. As a Camp Facilitator, I was required to provide group leadership and supervision while creating a fun and dynamic camp atmosphere that generated creative ideas and established positive objectives for campers. However, I balanced this by making sure his sister felt included and set time aside to help her with homework, and time for her to do some of her favourite activities. I also assisted with laundry, shopping, meal prep, and cooking.
