Career History –
Assistant Manager - I am currently an Assistant Manager of Headingley's (Leeds) busiest café Love Rouge Bakery. I have worked for this independent company for over 2 years now. This job started out as a part-time barista/waitress job to help fund my university fees which lead on to become my full time job after graduating from university.
As an assistant manager I am in charge of leading a team of 11. As the first point of call if the team has any issues or concerns, my role as assistant manager has taught me how to deal with difficult situations, resolve problems, and work well under pressure. This position has helped me to think quickly and work efficiently whilst upholding standards valued by the business. I have also learnt numerous organizational skills including managing rotas and shift patterns, cashing up and organising orders and stock, this has taught me to how to priorities and complete tasks thoroughly. Along with responsibilities on the floor, I am also in charge of running the businesses social media presence and events calendar.
Barista – From the age of 16 to 19 I worked part time in my hometown at Asda Living Cafe which is run by Compass Group. This has been where I feel most of my experience has come from as I gained a range of Food Safety and Health and Safety certificates. I used to work every weekend in the busy environment and full time over summer periods. I have learnt a lot of skills from the job which I feel could be useful in many different job roles. Interacting with the customers and other staff members is my favourite part of the job; I like meeting new people and enjoy doing tasks to please others. This job revolved around making sure the customer is happy so I thrive when I can see the result of my interaction. I am trained in many different areas in the café including, the till, coffee machine, food preparation, dish washer, cleaning equipment and the stock take.
Waitress - From 2013-2014 over the Christmas period I worked as a casual catering assistant at The Lincolnshire Show Ground, helping out for balls, proms, large private parties and weddings. Here I learnt a lot about time management and making sure everything was right all the way down to the last detail. It was highly important that the attendees were compley satisfied with everything and making sure that they felt comfortable at the event was first priority, so having good communications skills was imperative.
Event Assistant -Throughout the summer period, I work for one of the UK’s largest Security Companies (AP Security) working as an on-site Event/Operations Administrator. I have worked on a wide range of events such as the Royal Ascot, Glastonbury Festival, and Latitude Festival, which meant travelling by myself all over the country for most of the summer period. This job has required a wide range of skills from providing great customer service to being able to use my IT skills when given the responsibility to create the job sheet and complete the Payroll system. I personally feel the best part of this job was being able to help with customer queries, I love being able to assist someone with a problem and this job required a lot of customer attention.
Care worker – For the past 2 years I have been working part time for a family friend whose daughter has a range of disabilities including autism. My duties include providing care and support to her, slowly teaching her social and confidence skills and helping with physical and mental everyday tasks. I thoroughly enjoy spending time with her and every time I see her, I can l she is slowly starting to gain confidence in everyday tasks.
Event Assistant/Retail Assistant - Since September 2015 I have worked part time for Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair which is one of the UK's favourite vintage fairs. The fair travels around the country every weekend which has required a lot of traveling and early starts but this is a task I find with ease now. The role requires great customer service, a knowledge of trader information, a knowledge of vintage merchandise, cash handling, marketing and promotion and keeping impeccable time management.
About Me
I am currently a graduate from Leeds Beckett University who is looking for a range of work before I head off to work in Australia and New Zealand after Christmas. I already have a range of work experience from over the previous years working in many different sectors across the UK. I have previously worked at Glastonbury twice as an operations and on-site event manager and would love to work for a different sector this time.
