Host overview

We are a German-Romanian couple that moved to many places until we settled in a small village near Timisoara, Western part of Romania. Here we are part of a growing international intentional community (Romanian, German, French and Flamish) blended into the traditional Serbian and Romanian community. Each household has own small piece of land (up to 4000 sqm) with a traditional clay house or is in the process of building a new house with low tech materials (wood, clay, strawbales, etc). The household at no 129 has three buildings - main living house, the guests house and common spaces. We work the garden (a lot of annual plants on the flat part but shifting focus to slope improvement with perenials), we take care of small animals (chicken, geese, rabbits) and we started small scale tourism activities (Airbnb host, one day events for groups up to 30 people).

What we provide

How we work

A room with 4 bunk beds shared by volunteers and couchsurfers with the possibility to arrange other more private but basic shelters ( in the attics or camping in the garden). Nice fire place in the room. Superclean and well smelling Separett compost toilet outside; garden solar shower during the summer days and indoor shower for the colder season; Good food with as many as possible local products. We raise animals for meat, which we eat seldom, so most meals are in fact vegetarian and we are happy to host vegetarians as long as they do not mind our occasional meat eating. People with special dietary requirements are welcome too as long as they buy themselves soy milk, rice cakes and whatever they need but it does not grow locally. Social life is quite intense as the intentional groups eats together at least once a week and there are other travelers and friends passing by ( Bewelcome, Warmshowers, etc)
