Full CV / Resume

Miss Poppy Cakes, from October 2015
Working as a barista in a fast-paced environment, I provided friendly service to a high standard. In addition to working as part of a team, I was also responsible for independently opening and closing the shop. Building a good relationship with regular customers was an enjoyable and essential part of my work.

The Hacienda Retreat, 2015
Working as a kitchen assistant involved basic food preparation, serving guests, and washing up. This kitchen work was carried out under direction from a chef who spoke Spanish only.

At Your Service, August 2014 – July 2015
As waiting staff team leader at a five-star ho, delivering high quality service while also managing new staff was an essential part of my job. In addition, I was tasked with independently setting up rooms for events. It was necessary to be well-presented, well-spoken, punctual and attentive to customers at all times. The long shifts also required stamina and sustained enthusiasm.

World Peace Café, September – November 2014
My responsibilities included preparing and serving both food and drinks, taking orders, using the till, and training new staff. Providing friendly service while working fast and efficiently was a key part of this job.

Creation Theatre Company, July 2014
Front of House ushering for an outdoor theatre company involved unique challenges. My responsibilities included selling programmes, showing customers to their seats, and assisting in any other way needed.

Corsair Diving, July 2012 – August 2012
Taking responsibility for customers both out of the water and in it involved lots of customer interaction; in order to calm any nerves and make their day with us enjoyable, upholding the image of Corsair Diving as a friendly place.

Language Teaching and Cultural Exchange
This summer I took part in a self-organised cultural exchange with a family in Spain, providing conversation practice for the daughter and assisting the mother with teaching her English classes.

I also acted as a native speaker on an English language immersion course, Angloville. Helping participants improve their language skills through conversation and mentoring individual students was a highly rewarding experience. Being patient, friendly and hardworking allowed both me and my students to make the most of this opportunity.

Journalism
Recently, I have contributed content to a start-up enterprise, The RouteMap, which aims to transform the university application process in the UK.

I have also written for, and been involved in the production process of, the science magazines ‘Bluesci’ and ‘Weevil’; something which required attention to detail and teamwork.
