"Winter" as they call it in Costa Rica is the rainy season, which is from May to October in Guanacaste. The amount of rain that falls depends on the altitude, but around most beaches, the rainy season is not very rainy. It might rain in the afternoons for about 5 days out of 7 days of the week, and it won't last more than an hour or two at the most. We have the occasional tropical storm, but those are not very frequent. There are no hurricanes or tornados here.
