WORK IN HAYWOOD ALL YEAR ROUND

Please edit this section to tell travellers what kinds of short term work is available in Haywood all year round. Mention skills that are in demand here more than other places. If you can get some work as a translator in Haywood but it is as hard as anywhere else, please don't list it. If it is a region in China that cannot get enough English translators.... I think you get the idea.

SEASONAL WORK IN HAYWOOD

SPRING

What kinds of work are available in the spring time in Haywood. Remember to keep work that is all year round in the section above and not mention it again here.

SUMMER

The work that is needed by hosts in the summer in Haywood

AUTUMN

Haywood County has begun to have a large influx of Hispanic workers doing large amounts of manual labour, however, many do not speak English and likewise, most locals do not speak Spanish, etc.

Haywood is in a good need for bi-lingual workers and translators, especially in the Autumn when harvest is as its highest peak and schools start back for the winter.

WINTER

Skiing in Haywood - does it exist? Is there plenty of opportunities for people to get work in Haywood in the winter? What kind of skills are needed at this time of year? Please update this section and let fellow travellers know what you have learnt if you have worked in Haywood in the winter or if you are a host and live here and can share your knowledge.

ATTITUDE TO FOREIGNERS WORKING IN HAYWOOD

Haywood does have a small issue with many locals being apprehensive about dealing with or hiring foreign workers, especially when compared to neighbouring Buncombe County which is very open to the fact. The Hispanic population in Haywood County has had a hard fight to gain momentum and respect among the locals but are now pretty widely accepted in most areas.

Residents of other countries (I.E. Russia, most of Eastern Europe, Germany, Middle Eastern countries, etc.) still run into some issues with the locals, but some of us are hoping that if we can bring more foreign work to the area, it will open the hearts and minds of many of the locals and be a great teaching opportunity!
